LECALE ASC faced Mid-Ulster SC last Saturday in their first PTL meeting of the season and the 71-strong Lecale team produced consistently sound performances throughout the 56 events.
U-11 swimmers Chloe Galloway, Kate McCauley, Laura Molloy, Jodie Stevens, Niamh Masterson, Philip George, Fionn McConvey, Thomas Fitzsimons, Aidan McCauley and Aaron Cooper deserve a special mention for finishing in top positions and scoring a maximum 176 points throughout all events.
This high standard was closely matched by Lecale's senior and U-13 swimmers who conceded just one point and two points respectively throughout the meet.
Lecale's U-15 side faced tougher competition from the Mid-Ulster swimmers. However they upped their game and achieved 16 PBs. The Lecale swimmers achieved a total of 51 PBs on the night.
The biggest PB improvement was achieved by Aidan Doyle, who took an impressive 9.73 seconds off his breaststroke. Other swimmers who took over five seconds off their PBs were Chloe Galloway, Niamh Masterson, Philip George, Thomas Fitzsimons, Fionn McConvey and David Hunt.
Overall Lecale secured 38 first places, 44 second places and 22 thirds. The final score was Lecale 651 points Mid-Ulster 493.
Lecale would like to thank all the volunteers from both clubs and the Mid-Ulster club for a sporting and friendly meet.
This win has got Lecale off to a good start and they face Olympia SC in Belfast on November 5. Looking ahead this season Lecale will also compete against former PTL Division 1 clubs Lurgan and Lisburn.
These clubs are likely to put up a fairly impressive opposition so Lecale will need all their key swimmers in top form.
Laura Murphy, Amy Godfrey, Orlaith Devlin entered eight events and pushed themselves to achieve six PBs.
Amy came home with medals after finishing second in the 50m fly (40.25S) and third in 50m back (41.76S). Laura finished fifth in 50m back and Orlaith took 20 seconds off her 200m free PB.
