TRAVEL and Tourism students from the South Eastern Regional College’s Downpatrick campus enjoyed a hands-on approach to learning during a recent fun day of outdoor adventure at Carlingford Lough.
The students were assessed taking part in land and water-based activities, including kayaking, pier-jumping, banana boating, sea safaris and climbing, as well as their co-operative group skills.
Course lecturer, Kieran Swail, said the students had the opportunity to gain practical experience in a wide variety of recreation and adventure activities.
He continued: “It also provided an excellent shop window to showcase the many and varied career opportunities that the travel and tourism industry offers.
“The fun day gave everyone an insight that they wouldn’t normally see in their day-to-day activities. Students had to work together to overcome conflicts and challenges while learning to understand the different personalities and strengths of various team members.”
