A TALENTED young singer and harpist with strong links to the district is releasing her first single next week.

Niamh Noade (15) – who has family ties with the Drumaness area – will release her cover of the famous ABBA hit, The Winner Takes It All, on Friday, July 5.

Last year, Niamh did Drumaness and her family proud when she made it all the way to the final of The Voice Kids on ITV.

Niamh sang The Winner Takes It All during her blind audition which wowed one of the judges – Irish pop icon Ronan Keating, who mentored her throughout the competition.

While Niamh is from Lislea, Co Armagh, her father Malachy grew up in Drumaness and played football for the local GAA club.

Malachy said he and his wife, Deirdre, are “so proud” of their daughter.

“She’s got an absolutely incredible talent and is always writing her own songs, working on her performances and striving to be the best artist she can be,” Malachy remarked.

“Getting to the final of The Voice Kids was an amazing achievement and she loved every minute of it.

“She got on so well with Ronan. “He was brilliant with her and really encouraging. He said after the final that he would be interested in recording with her, but his brother sadly passed away shortly after the final. He did get in touch Niamh just before Christmas, so they’re still planning to work together in the future.”

Niamh’s cover of The Winner Takes It All has received over 15 million views on social media.

As well as writing and perfecting her craft, Niamh is also passionate about raising money for charity and has used her talent to raise much-needed cash for causes close to her heart.

Over the past three years, she has raised over £11,000 for children’s charities across the UK.

Proceeds from an upcoming concert in Newcastle-upon-Tyne will be in aid of the Magnet Young Adult Centre in Newry.

“She’s got an upcoming tour in Europe which she is so excited about,” dad Malachy continued.

“For someone so young she has continued to amaze us. Between competing in the Junior Eurovision and coming runner-up in The Voice last year, she has had an incredible career and hopes to release more music in the future.”

He added: “We are so proud of her and we know she will have a brilliant career.”

Niamh cover of The Winner Takes It All will be released on all streaming platforms, including Spotify.
