STUDENTS from Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle have raised over £600 for the town’s Daisy Lodge respite centre.
The money was raised by the school’s charity leaders, Maria Cassidy and Orla Gibney, as well as other sixth form students Anna O’Flaherty and Taniesha Chikwana.
Daisy Lodge is run by the Cancer Fund for Children and provides free therapeutic breaks for families affected by cancer.
It offers a peaceful environment for relaxation among the beautiful Mourne Mountains, emotional support and activities to help families cope with the challenges of cancer.
Shimna College assistant vice principal Joanne Poland said: “It was wonderful to see our past student Aisling Gibson back to the college, representing such a worthwhile local cause.
“A huge thank you to everyone who contributed – your generosity truly makes a difference in the lives of children and families affected by cancer.”
Ms Poland added: “Let’s keep up the great work.”
