A LOCAL councillor recently hosted a fundraising quiz for the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.
The DUP’s Alan Lewis hosted the quiz at the Lakeside Inn, near Downpatrick. To date the event has raised £850.
Cllr Lewis said: “I am overwhelmed by people’s generosity and willingness to get involved. I’d also like to thank quiz master David Riddell, Margaret Ferguson, and the Lakeside Inn for their assistance, along with all those organisations who made donations toward the raffle.
“Last year I was delighted to have been able to visit the base of the Air Ambulance at The Maze, Lisburn.
“I discussed how we could better help highlight the work and services of AANI and increase our fundraising for this coming year.”
Cllr Lewis added: “I believe it is important that I use my position to aid and raise awareness of this wonderful lifesaving service.
“Hearing that Newry, Mourne and Down is the most frequently visited area for the Air Ambulance reinforces the importance of supporting the charity through fundraising and awareness.”
