DRUMANESS B captain Martin McGoran kept faith with the boys that got them to the Downpatrick and District Snooker and Billiards League’s Brannigan Cup final, including the inexperienced McCartan and Foley.
The first game of the showdown saw the improving Hugh Murdock take on Gerard McCartan and despite giving away 56 points a frame won by 63 points.
Things didn’t get any better for the B team when Darren Dornan showed his undoubted talent to beat Eamonn Foley by 64 points with Foley receiving 140 points on handicap.
This left the A team 127 points in front with Ray McAllister facing the formidable Darren Oldroyd. Oldroyd was receiving 14 points but it didn’t matter as McAllister pounced on his first mistake and hit a magnificent 113 break.
Oldroyd sportingly shook hands, giving the A team victory with a frame to spare.
League secretary John Weston congratulated both teams and thanked the Drumaness club for the excellent conditions before handing the cup to skipper Ray McAllister.
