A NUMBER of local community groups have shared in a £2m cash windfall from the National Lottery Community Fund.
The funding comes as part of an announcement of over £2 million of grants to provide support and services to local people across the province.
Having been awarded £19,600, Killinchy and District Community Development Association have been awarded £19,600 to help cover their running costs over two years.
Portaferry Bloom is using the £11,700 they have been awarded to transform a disused space into an accessible community garden where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy nature and grow flowers and vegetables.
Claragh Bridge Vintage Club is using a grant of £4,525 to help cover the costs of its annual vehicle and fun day this Saturday.
Killyleagh Community Association is using a £7,599 grant to develop an online community directory of local community organisations, public services and wellbeing activities in the town and surrounding areas.
Slievenaman Women’s Institute in Newcastle is using £1,095 grant to organise a summer day trip.
Neurodiversity UK, which is based in Comber, is using a £20,000 grant to provide support for families of young people with autism.
