A RECORD fair is to be held at Ballynahinch’s Market House next month.
The event which takes place on Saturday, October 5, has been organised by Alan McClure and Ian Pearce from Hollywood Record Fair.
For the past six years, Ian and Alan have organised and taken part in dozens of fairs all over Ireland.
The pair have been collecting records for over 40 years and use the fairs as opportunities to sell some of their collections to other music lovers.
In recent years, vinyl’s have made an unexpected comeback, thus increasing the value and authenticity of records that were made and sold over 50 years ago.
The Market House is currently home to Harry’s Place CIC, who work in the town and surrounding area, helping young adults with autism/learning difficulties learn vital lifeskill, give them jobs volunteering in the cafe and organise excursions and events for them to attend.
Over the last three years, Hollywood Record Fair have worked together with Harry’s Place, who have given Ian and Alan a chance to use their premises for record fairs, the record lovers raise money for the charity.
The pair will be taking over the upstairs hall of the Market House and will have ten tables of records, ads and merchandise for everyone to look through.
There will also be some live music at the fair in the form of a jazz/blues duo, and the cafe downstairs will be holding lots of fund-raising activities.
The event will run from 11am to 3pm and is free of charge.
