RESIDENTS in Teconnaught have been asked to play their role in helping shape the design of a new £140,000 play park.

The appeal has been issued by South Down MP Chris Hazzard and Slieve Croob councillor Cathy Mason.

The progression of work on the scheme has been welcomed by both politicians with the MP confident that the new play facility will have a long-lasting and positive benefit for the Teconnaught community.

“We would encourage as many people as possible to complete the survey and encourage others, especially children and young people, to feed their ideas into the consultation process,” he said.

“If anyone has any difficulties completing the survey, please contact Maeve at Playboard on 028 9080 3380.”

Mr Hazzard said the survey closes at 5pm, on Friday, October 1 and asked anyone with queries or comments in relation to the issue or any other to contact his constituency office.

Cllr Mason said she is pleased that the play park development has reached the public consultation stage and encouraged local people to get involved to help shape its design.

“Earlier this year, we were delighted to confirm that we had secured £140,000 for a long overdue play-park in Teconnaught,” she continued.

“Working in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down Council and Teconnaught GAC, it was agreed that the play-park would be located at the club grounds at the Rann Road.”

“Children’s charity Playboard has been commissioned to launch a consultation with residents in order to give everyone an opportunity to help shape the play area’s final design.

“I would encourage everyone to get involved, with access to the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ PCPTeconnaught.”
