Strangford residents in local boost

Strangford residents in local boost

19 February 2020

RESIDENTS in Strangford can now keep up to date with all that is happening in the village, thanks to a boost from the Big Lottery Fund.

It is financing a new village noticeboard, website and newsletter to keep everyone in Strangford abreast of all that is going on.

Given the many clubs and societies in Strangford — which currently number 18 —

the village’s residents’ group is delighted with the Big Lottery Fund’s cash windfall which ensures that it can deliver in its vow to improve communication.

Group member Jennifer O’Reilly has been writing feature articles in the newsletter about individual residents and it has been a great hit. She says everyone has a story to tell.

Residents can also keep abreast of events by checking the noticeboard and website at www.srainfo.org. The website contains all the news on past, present and future projects which the residents’ association has been involved in.

The Strangford group is particularly excited about working in partnership with the local health care representative and the County Down Rural Community Network to develop a well-being programme within the village.

In addition, the group is also forging strong links with the National Trust estate at Castle Ward and looks forward to some interesting joint projects, giving residents a chance to be more directly involved with their historic neighbour.

The group has also kicked off a partnership with the Inverbrena Community Hall to host a so-called ‘creative collective’ which will support existing artists in the village and encourage everyone to take part in creative activities.
