Sharvin urges Killough residents to get involved in play park consultation

DOWNPATRICK SDLP councillor Gareth Sharvin has welcomed a £500,000 upgrading boost to 16 play parks throughout the district.

Play parks in Killough, Killyleagh, Saintfield, Ballynahinch and Drumaness will benefit in the Rural Development Fund-supported project later this year.

“In relation to the Killough play park, this is a play park I and my colleague Colin McGrath MLA have been lobbying the council to renovate for the last year,” said the SDLP councillor, who is chairman of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s Active and Healthy Communities committee.

“I have been informed that the Playboard NI team will be carrying out consultation with the local community of Killough to identify a number of key elements. The elements include the location of the playpark which has been an important issue for the local residents of Killough.”

He urged every Killough resident to get involved with the consultation to ensure that the local views are heard.

“The investment is fantastic for Killough and will bring an important facility into the modern age, and suitable for everyone to use. The programme is expected to be finished by March 2019,” he added.
