TALENTED members of the Patrician Youth Centre in Downpatrick staged their Spring Showcase recently.
The show included songs and dances from many popular musicals including all-time favourites, such as Oliver! and Annie, and more recent shows, including Sister Act, Matilda, Hairspray and Mamma Mia.
The production also included poetry recitations and short sketches chosen by members to perform.
Members performed on Friday and Sunday, entertaining school and public audiences with their acting, song, and dance, dazzling throughout. Once again, everyone was a star.
Patrician senior youth worker Yvonne Maguire congratulated everyone connected with the performance – the production team, cast members, parents, families and everyone who attended both performances.
She said: “This production had a very short rehearsal period due to the time of year and the many commitments of the young, who all excelled. The performing arts continue to be hugely popular at Patrician Youth Centre with our youngest age programme at capacity for third term this year.”
She commended the “energy, enthusiasm and commitment” shown by adult leaders and young people to bring productions to the stage.
“Many of our teenage cast have been with us for a number of years and are growing in confidence and competence through our arts delivery,” she continued. “Our children and young people enjoy what they are doing, are having fun in each other’s company, and learning along the way. Well done to everyone.”
