Newcastle housing will reap natural gas benefits

25 November 2020

A NEW housing development in Newcastle is utilising the benefits of natural gas.

Dunmore Construction Ltd has just released the first phase of its Clanbrassil housing development at Middle Tollymore Road, with the homes connected to the Phoenix Natural Gas network.

Phoenix began work on the extension of its natural gas network to 13 towns across East Down in 2016, providing access to natural gas for a further 28,000 properties.

Construction of the 56 three bedroom semi-detached and detached homes in Newcastle, priced from £197,500, began earlier this year with the first handovers anticipated early in the New Year.

The properties — covered by a National Housing Building Council warranty — feature high insulation values, with low maintenance external finishes making the homes particularly efficient to run.

The turnkey properties, which are being sold through James Wilson & Sons Estate Agents, have been finished to an exceptional standard with Fibrus and Openreach available, with the development the first to be fully connected to the Phoenix Natural Gas network which has been made available in the Newcastle area in recent months.

Micheál Rodgers, of Dunmore Construction, said the Clanbrassil development had been designed to offer its residents modern, convenient and comfortable living, finished to an exceptional standard in an area of outstanding scenic beauty.

“We are delighted that Clanbrassil will be the first development in Newcastle to be connected to the Phoenix Natural Gas network, giving our residents immediate access to valuable lifestyle benefits such as instant heat and constant hot water, while being connected to a lower carbon fuel source,” he said.

More than 2,400 new build properties have been connected to the Phoenix Natural Gas network in 2020 with the company’s new-build sales manager, Eunice McClune, delighted with the number of new developments across East Down who are making the connection.

“Natural gas has quickly become the fuel of choice for new-build homes across Northern Ireland seeking to provide comfortable, convenient living for their residents,” she said.

“We are excited to be working with clients like Dunmore Construction, supporting them in their ambitions to operate with an energy efficiency focus and we look forward to providing natural gas access for future developments.”

The award-winning Dundrum company has been responsible for building numerous high quality new-build and commercial projects since it was established in 1984, sustaining much needed jobs and is excited at the release of the first phase of Clanbrassil.
