Music pupils hit right note

Music pupils hit right note

19 September 2018

FOUR Downpatrick Primary School pupils are celebrating after gaining success in their music examinations.

The four took their examinations in June following their tuition which was provided by the Education Authority tutor service based at Ballynahinch Music Centre.

The successful children were Vilte Budryte (Grade 2 Violin with Merit), Abigail Elliott (Grade 2 Cello with Distinction), Dylan King (Grade 2 Trumpet) and Abbie Stocking (Grade 2 Violin).

Mrs Cheryl McClure, Head of Music at the school, said: “We were delighted at the achievements of these children.

“Grade 2 in brass and stringed instruments is a very high standard for primary school pupils and especially as Abigail and Dylan were only P6 at the time.

“I should like to thank the tutors, Mr Niall Lynch, Miss Sherry Robinson and Mrs Louise Sweet, for their expertise and dedication in taking our brass and strings through the year.”
