Movie on Loughinisland massacre to premiere in New York

20 September 2017

A LONG-AWAITED film documentary on the UVF murder of six men in Loughinisland in 1994 will be premiered in New York later this month.

No Stone Left Unturned, directed by Oscar-winner Alex Gibney, will be shown for the first time at the New York Film Festival before going on general release in cinemas.

Six local men died when two UVF gunmen burst into The Heights Bar on June 18 and opened fire as they watched Ireland play in the World Cup finals. Five other men were wounded.

Last year the Police Ombudsman, Dr Michael Maguire, ruled that while the police did not know the attack was to take place, there was collusion because of a failure to properly investigate the activities of a Loyalist gang in South Down and because the security forces had some knowledge of the importation of weapons by Loyalists several years earlier.
