Marvel-ous day out with superheroes at railway

17 August 2022

AN appeal has gone out from the Downpatrick and County Down Railway for all mini heroes and heroines to join forces with some caped crusaders at the local heritage railway on the upcoming August Bank Holiday weekend, as the demise of the railway draws near.

Railway chairman Robert Gardiner revealed the dire situation facing the local heritage railway.

He said: “After we thought the dastardly Hela’s devious schemes had been thwarted in July by the combined forces of Captain America, Captain Marvel and Spiderman, as well as hundreds of little superheroes, the evil Hela has escaped and threatens a terrible revenge and demands a rematch.

“Having broken free from her bonds swearing revenge against her vanquishers, she is even more determined to bring the railway to its knees once and for all!. Only your junior superheroes can help save the day... if they are brave enough to face her in battle.

“But don’t worry, Captain America, Spiderman and Captain Marvel will be onboard the SuperTrain to help and train your little superheroes in the skills needed to defeat her and bring her to justice. We need your help.”

The SuperTrain is running on Sunday, August 28, for a ‘marvel-lous’ journey on the Bank Holiday.

Mr Gardiner predicts the ‘end game’ for the agents of this demiserly agenda.

He said: “The avenging heroes are calling for any superheroes of any age to come help them — especially if they are fully kitted out in superhero attire — to board one of the Supertrains and help our heroes apprehend the devious devil.”

Four SuperTrains will depart every hour and 20 minutes at 1200, 1320, 1440 and 1600. Advanced booking is essential. A Fantastic Family ticket (2 adults + 2 children, or 1 adult + 3 children) is £42, additional Avenging Adults and Krypton Kids £11.50 and Super Seniors £10.50. To book, log on to www.downrail.co.uk/tickets.

This event is supported by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
