CROSSGAR........................................2

BALLYKINLAR..................................4

BALLYKINLAR propelled themselves to top spot in the BMF Snooker League with a win over a Crossgar team who remain stuck at the opposite end of the table.

Gareth Magorrian struck first for the visitors, hitting three breaks of 20 or more to send them into an early lead.

Sean Burns replied for Crossgar, combining early scoring with the advantage of his handicap to level the scores at 1-1.

Philip Codd, who now has a few wins under his belt, continued to grow in confidence as he stole the first frame from Michael Pollock, but fell to a run of 51 at the second time of asking.

Des Smyth added another point to the Ballykinlar tally, taking the first frame from Brian Gordon with a score of 85-64.

Gordon’s unpredictable style flummoxed Smyth in the next though, showcasing his potting ability to claim the last point of the night.

DARRAGH CROSS..............................3

DRUMANESS FIFTHS........................3

DUMANESS Fifths got off to a great start as Seamus McGivern pulled off a heroic comeback to take both frames from under the nose of Finbar McLaughlin.

A spirited performance from McLaughlin came up short in the second frame though, with McGivern potting the final balls for a 2-0 lead.

Darren Smyth had a close tussle with Jay Edmonds in the next game and the frames shared, leaving Drumaness with a 3-1 margin.

It was great to see Michael Fong make another appearance for Darragh Cross and he certainly did not disappoint.

A comfortable win in the first frame was followed by a break of 51 to prevent Mark Magoran from adding to the Drumaness tally and leave the overall scoring tied at 3-3.

A few wins from Darragh Cross could see them move up to mid-table, where four teams are only separated by three points.

DRUMANESS HEADS........................2

ST MARYS A......................................4

IN what was perhaps the shock result of the week, St Mary’s A came away from Drumaness with an impressive four points.

Northern Ireland champion Darren Dornan was in impervious form as he rattled in breaks of 66 and 40 in the first frame.

He followed up with an 89 break and was unlucky to miss out on a century as he reduced Colly Hughes to being a spectator on his way to making it 2-0 to Drumaness.

Sean Carvill found success against Ryan Dornan, claiming a scrappy first frame before upping his game to square the contest at 2-2.

Gerard Travers put St Mary’s in front, sealing the first frame with breaks of 40 and 36 against Steve Madine, and followed up by potting the yellow and pink balls to secure overall victory for his side.

Regardless of defeat, the Heads still remain in third position, two points adrift of the league leaders.

ST MARY’S B.....................................2

DRUMANESS POTTERS....................4

DRUMANESS Potters continue to chase the league leaders following their win away to St Mary’s B.

Ryan Murphy and Dessie Sweeney shared the opening two frames after some tactical safety play was shown by both players.

Gary Brown capitalised on Johnny McQuade’s errors to win both frames with comfortable margins.

Charle Hutton and Jack McAstoker battled it out over the last two frames and while Hutton took the first frame 79-17, breaks of 20 and 21 were enough for McAstoker to claim the second.

St Mary’s B will need to start getting some wins under their belt and every frame could make a huge difference in the remainder of the season.

The league is now on hold to allow for the completion of the Vivo Cup, kindly sponsored by Mark Boyd, which will take place over the next couple of weeks.
