A KEY member of staff at the world renowned Lowden Guitars has been named by the Institute of Directors as one of the finalists in the Northern Ireland Director of the Year Awards.

David Ausdahl is a finalist in the prestigious international category in recognition of his work with the Downpatrick firm which has teamed up with globally acclaimed singer songwriter Ed Sheeran.

The firm, which has a base at the Down Business Centre, has teamed up with Sheeran to produce a new range of guitars — Sheeran by Lowden.

The aim is to inspire a fresh crop of players and hopefully younger musicians by playing one of the most revered names in music.

David Ausdahl is one of a number of businessmen who has been shortlisted for a prestigious award across a range of categories at the Northern Ireland Director of the Year Awards.

The winners are due to be announced at a gala ceremony at Belfast’s Merchant Hotel next month.

Ahead of the ceremony, Institute of Directors chairman, Gordon Milligan, said that once again the awards have produced a “stellar shortlist” that includes some of the most dynamic and successful business leaders from across the private, public and third sectors.

“As an organisation, we want to support and encourage directors to continually improve standards and constantly raising the bar of their success,” he continued. “The calibre of this year’s finalists demonstrates that is exactly what they are doing.

“It is no surprise therefore that we see so many local organisations continuing to thrive under their guidance, despite operating against a back of wider economic and political uncertainty.”

Mr Milligan added: “Huge congratulations go to all those who have made the shortlist and best wishes to everyone for the final.”
