Karen recognised for her service at Shimna College

A MUCH-LOVED staff member of Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle has been recognised for her service to the school.

Karen Maguire, who is the longest serving staff member at the school, was presented with a distinguished service award before Christmas.

Karen joined the school in 1994 as a secretary and is now the bursar.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Karen has served the college loyally, professionally and with the utmost commitment, helping us to manage our budget through challenging times and, more recently, taking on extra duties to assist with our move into the new build.

“We are very glad to have her on the team – a true MVP.”

In addition to her distinguished service award, Karen was also presented with a bouquet of flowers.
