Free music events at Downpatrick Culture Night

20 September 2017

NOW in its fourth year, Downpatrick Culture Night is back.

Downpatrick Community Collective, working in partnership with Down Arts Centre and Down Community Arts, are putting on a series of activities to suit all ages.

Part of the all-Ireland Culture Night celebration on Friday, Downpatrick’s activities will centre on St Patrick’s Square.

The now familiar white festival marquee will see various acts performing including irish dancers from Brennan Miskelly McCormick dance school, highland dancers from Johnston Highland Dancers and modern dance from Downpatrick based Dance Den.

St Patrick’s Grammar will be supplying a traditional group and Loughinisland performer Chris Noade will also be performing. Local band 4.5 Men will be also be covering a range of popular classic songs to keep feet tapping.

With funding from Newry Mourne and Down Council and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, there are an exciting range of activities going on outside of the festival marquee and within Down Arts Centre including face painting, interactive artists, badge making, and appearances from the Great Mefiesto and Mr Whizzy.

At Down Arts Centre, Dramability will also be hosting the grand opening of the BallyCulture Culchie Club, showcasing the best of local talent.

Admission to all events throughout Culture Night is free.
