FRANCES Price had always enjoyed taking photos but never knew how to use a camera except in automatic mode.
That was until she decided to join Ballynahinch Camera Club in 2005, shortly after getting her first little digital camera.
Now she’s secretary of the club and the owner three cameras and multitude of lenses and other gear.
“I really enjoy being with others who love photography and I have learned so much from them,” she says. “It’s a fantastic hobby to have and one that has enabled me to meet lots of interesting people.
Her skills have developed to the point that she has had the confidence to get photographic distinctions, including Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society and Credit of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.
“I’ve even shot a couple of weddings recently, which really tested my skills,” she said.
“I suppose I enjoy landscape and wildlife photography best, but I love to challenge myself with all genres and I take the club competitions very seriously.”
Frances added: “For the images shown here, some have done well in competition and some not, but all have given me pleasure and that’s what photography is really about.”
