Drumaness Gaelic club donates supplies to 600 village residents

MEMBERS of St Colman’s GAC in Drumaness delivered around 600 care packages to elderly and vulnerable residents in the village on Monday.

The packages included a number of essentials including tea bags, biscuits, washing up liquid and some treats.

In addition, residents received a letter from the Drumaness club chairman, Damien McEvoy, which provided the organisation’s contact details in case anyone wanted to get in touch.

St Colman’s teamed up with the Community Foundation with deliveries and made a generous donation to a local foodbank and St Vincent de Paul.

Mr McEvoy said that as a club “embedded in the local community” it wanted to find a way to reach the residents of the village and let them know the club is there for anyone who needs any help.

He added: “I would like to say a special word of thanks to each volunteer who gave up their time to make this happen. It just shows how special community spirit can be.”
