Crossgar ladies get into spirit of Christmas

THE members of Crossgar Golf Club’s ladiesd’ section gathered in the clubhouse on Friday night for their annual prize giving.

The ‘big’ prizes — the singles, doubles, championship, Order of Merit and Player of the Year — had already been presented at the club dinner in October, but there were many other prizes awaiting the winners of the weekly competitions.

The ladies were invited to wear Christmas jumpers for this fun evening, which included a short table quiz, refreshments, some carol singing and then the annual presentations.

The lady captain, Elizabeth Patterson, thanked Melanie Douglas for her work on the table quiz and carols. She also thanked everyone for coming and reminded them that being a member of Crossgar Golf Club Ladies’ Section meant everyone was a winner.

She then made a presentation to everyone which included the following prizes:

Order of Merit for April, Joyce Dodd; Order of Merit for May, Joyce Doddp; Order of Merit for June, Rosie Boulter; Order of Merit for July, Rebecca Morrison, Order of Merit for August, Rosie Boulter; Order of Merit for September, Elizabeth Patterson.

Monthly Medal for April, Joyce Dodd; Monthly Medal for May, Jane Baker; Monthly Medal for June, Barbara Wootton; Monthly Medal for July, Mary Torrens; Monthly Medal for August, Joyce Dodd; Monthly Medal for September, Anne McCart.

O2 Challenge Trophy: Barbara Clarke.

The ladies are currently playing the Winter League. The weekly winners receive a voucher and the overall winner will be presented with the Campbell Perpetual Trophy at the AGM in March. .

The evening concluded by a presentation of flowers from the ladies to thank the lady captain and wish her a Happy Christmas.
