BALLYKINLAR..............268

DRUMANESS A..............121

BALLYKINLAR have finally gotten their hands on some silverware after an early season blitz by Drumaness, who have already claimed the BSW Cup and the Martin Cup.

Drumaness, in their third consecutive cup final, were denied the hat-trick by an inspired Ballykinlar side captained by Gareth Magorrian.

It was sweet revenge from their previous cup final defeat. Drumaness were carrying an overall -100 handicap going into the final so every ball early on counted.

Hugh Murdock, conceding 49 points a frame to Sean Wooley, started swiftly with an early 20 break.

Wooley responded with 17 and opened the balls but a mistake allowed Murdock in to respond with a further 59 break only to break down on the blue.

Sean Wooley took his chance and cleared from blue to black to nick the frame by two points.

Philip Codd, up next for Ballykinlar, started positively against Mark Boyd.

An early run of 25 got him in front as Mark continued to chase the game. A further 49 break from Codd looked like it sealed the fate for Drumaness.

Mark mopped up the colours leaving the frame score 97-28 in favour of the Ballykinlar man.

Darren Oldroyd, going into the third frame of the night, had it all to do but it wasn’t to be as captain Gareth Magorrian stepped up and slammed in a 71 break – the highest break of the night – to put the match beyond the grasp of Drumaness.

The concession soon followed, despite three frames remaining to be played.

The points difference was simply too much at this point.

Congratulations to Ballykinlar for a top overall performance and thanks also go to the winning team for hosting and all those in attendance to see a superb night of snooker.
