Ballykinlar hosts popular fun day

15 August 2018

BALLYKINLAR was the setting on Saturday for a health and fun day organised by the Slieve Croob District Electoral Area Forum, in partnership with County Down Rural Community Network and Ballykinlar community groups.

The day was organised as a result of the groups working together to build relations and provide a platform for local people to make a positive contribution to their community, enhance community cohesion and increase cross cultural exchange.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council chairman Mark Murnin, who is also the chairman of the Slieve Croob DEA Forum, said: “It is always gratifying to see people in the local community working together to deliver successful events.

“This health and fun day had a number of objectives, including helping the community build its capacity to ensure that it can continue to flourish, and providing an activity day for the whole family.

“I am pleased at the response from the local community and know that this event, and others like it, help to make our community better.”

In addition to the many events, including face painting, reptile display, children’s crafts and music, the Action Cancer Bus was in attendance to provide screening, with sessions fully booked for the day.
